Summerside is one of South Edmonton’s new neighbourhoods.
The name Summerside comes from a city on Prince Edward Island.
Summerside is located south of Ellerslie Road. It extends west to 66 Street, north to 25 Avenue SW, east to 91 Street SW and Parsons Road.
Three out of four residences are single-family dwellings. The remainder is a mix of low-rise apartments and multi-family row houses. There are a few duplexes.
Summerside students have access to three area schools: Rising Scholars Montessori, Father Michael Mireau Elementary/Junior High School, and Michael Strembitsky School.
There are three area churches: Central Baptist Church (Southeast), RCCG Christ Church, Edmonton, and Grace Point Church of God.
The Summerside community league organizes summer sports like paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, lying on the beach, and swimming on members-only Summerside Lake. Besides the privately-owned Summerside Beach Club, there are also two city-run area playgrounds.
Residents are near South Edmonton Common, Southpark Centre, South Pointe, Southgate Centre, and Mill Woods Town Centre.
Edmonton transit, Gateway Boulevard to the west, and Anthony Henday Drive to the north provide easy access to the rest of the city including cultural, healthcare, education, entertainment, recreation, and dining opportunities of the downtown core and other Edmonton neighbourhoods.
