This West Edmonton neighbourhood is divided into two areas: Callingwood North and Callingwood South.
Callingwood is bounded on the west by 178 Street. It extends east to 170 Street and north to Whitemud Drive. Its southerly border is Callingwood Road.
Primarily condominiums, Callingwood has a small number of single-family dwellings—mostly bungalows.
Callingwood has lots of shopping, restaurants, and recreation in the area. The Callingwood Farmers’ Market on 178 Street and 69 Avenue have over 65 shops and services. Retailers include Safeway, Shoppers Drug Mart, Dollarama, Liquor Depot, Dynalife DX, Academy of Learning and Sherlock’s Automotive Repair.
The market also has several professional and healthcare services such as walk-in clinics, medical labs, a registry office, chiropractors, dentists, optometrists, naturopathic doctors, real estate brokers, lawyers, and psychologists.
The Marketplace at Callingwood also has eateries including Muggn’z, BarBurrito, Chopsticks Chinese food, Dairy Queen, Happy Camel Bakery, Little Caesars, Rice Bowl Deluxe, KFC, Japanese Bistro Kobe, Pho Kim Vietnamese food, Cobs, Freshii, and Panago.
There are several neighbourhood schools: Callingwood Elementary, Centennial School, Ormsby School, Lymburn School, St. Martha Catholic Elementary School, and Archbishop Oscar Romero Catholic High School.
There are four churches: Living Life House of God Ministry, Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Redeemed Christian Church of God, and Callingwood Presbyterian Church.
Located near Oscar Romero school, Callingwood Park offers plenty of green space where residents may walk, skateboard, run, jog, bike, and let dogs run off-leash. Westridge Park nearby in Wolf Willow Hollow is a trail area for hiking, birdwatching, picnicking, and photography.
The Callingwood-Lymburn Community League maintains a community hall and an outdoor rink.
There are several recreation and fitness centres in the neighbourhood including Gametime Indoor Playground and Sports Centre, Infinium Personal Training and Fitness, Bull Pen Gym, Jasper Park Fitness Centre, and Alberta Recreation and Parks Association centre.
Callingwood is close to the many amenities of West Edmonton Mall where Callingwood residents can find many things to do in the vicinity including a water park, a wave pool, a roller coaster, an indoor skating rink, and numerous rides and games.
Proximity to the University of Alberta and University Hospital offers many cultural, medical, and educational opportunities.
Edmonton Public Transit runs through the neighbourhood and offers easy access to Downtown Edmonton. It is also a short drive to the city core where Callingwood residents can take advantage of the dining, shopping, entertainment, and nightlife opportunities of a large urban area.
